Block Schedule

A school system plans to switch to block schedule. Currently, there are seven 47-minute teaching periods in a day, 4 minutes passing time, and 25 minutes for lunch. In the new schedule, there will be four teaching periods each day, 6 minutes between 84-minute classes, and 25 minutes for lunch. What is the change in the proposed instruction time?

SOLUTION
Current instruction time
7\times 47=329 minutes
Proposed instruction time
4\times 84=336 minutes
Change in instruction time
336-329=7 minutes

Answer: 7 minutes
